A helping hand from Joury

As I
mentioned earlier on in this blog, it is somewhat difficult to find information
on the Jouët Caprice, because the boat is no longer in production, only about a
hundred were made, and the company that produced the design went out of
business. In addition, there are no clubs for the series.Until now, I have only been able to see the few photos of Caprices that are on sale on various websites, but they are all the same photos of the same boats. It has been difficult to get detailed photos that I can use in the restoration of Lil' Mule II, or other information for that matter.
I have had the good luck of coming across a video of Joury Beeren on YouTube sailing in his Caprice, and this led me to finding a way to contact him, and his sailboat's website. Here is that video:
Joury's Caprice, number 67, is called "Reesie Jouet" (I am told that Reesie is from the word "race" in Dutch). As you can see, it is in excellent condition! Though it suffers from a bout of osmosis for the moment, I have no doubt that Joury will go a good job treating that.
Thanks to his help, I will have an excellent model on which to base many of my repairs, and I feel much less alone than before with regards to this boat, as now I am able to exchange ideas with another Caprice owner, and one that cares about doing things correctly. Hartelijk dank!

Hi Ryan
I have a Caprice too! (She is the last blue one in your list of images). I sail out of the Medway, UK. She hasn't needed a tremendous amount of work because the previous owner was pretty good on maintainance but I have replaced the original tiller with a longer one. I have loads of images and will follow your project with interest. If I can help in any way, drop me a line.
Best wishes

Hello Robert!
Thanks for dropping by! I'd love to see some photos of Nightwatch, and hear some stories about her. I'll send you an email here in a sec :)
